MIAMI, FL (October 26, 2022) – The 25th BioFlorida Annual Conference will unite the most prominent leaders of the Florida life sciences community from November 2-4 at the Hyatt Regency Miami. The Conference provides an opportunity for the life sciences community to highlight the latest in science, business, and public policy, showcase Florida’s successes, and collaborate to fuel future growth. WHO: BioFlorida is the voice of Florida’s life sciences ecosystem representing 6,700 establishments and research organizations in BioPharma, MedTech, HealthIT, and Health Systems that employ nearly 94,000 Floridians. Attendees include executives, entrepreneurs, industry professionals, scientists, researchers, universities, health systems, hospitals, investors, federal and state policymakers, economic development agencies, and service providers from the state’s life sciences industry. Chris Sprowls, Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, will join to provide a welcome and help kick off the industry celebrations of 25 years of innovation. The keynote speaker at the Conference is Fred Hassan, a Director with the private equity firm, Warburg Pincus, and board member of Precigen, IntegraConnect, Prometheus Biosciences, and BridgeBio. The industry titan will draw on his years of success leading companies like Schering-Plough Corporation, where he served as Chairman and CEO from 2003 until its merger with Merck & Co. in 2009, and Pharmacia Corporation, where we served as Chairman and CEO from 2001 to 2003 until its acquisition by Pfizer Inc., and discuss strategies for success in today’s environment during his keynote, Reinvent: A Leaders Playbook. Jeffrey Duerk, PhD, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost for the University of Miami, will also provide a keynote on Connecting Academics, Research, and Industry in Florida and on the Global Stage. - BioTrends sessions will showcase industry innovation and identify current trends in manufacturing, digital health, and machine learning, and explore how we can learn from the Pandemic in the fight against infectious diseases.
- BioBusiness will spotlight this year’s most innovative companies that have experienced significant growth and met major milestones; discuss how MedTech is leveraged to improve the patient, physician, and clinical experience; and share keys to achieve commercialization success. A panel of investors will also discuss funding strategies for the year ahead.
Seed and early-stage life science companies will compete during BioPitch, providing a platform for some of Florida’s most innovative companies to pitch to 25+ life science investors in closed-door sessions. Finalists will present during the General Session, and the winner will receive $10,000. BioFlorida received a record number of 55 BioPitch applicants this year.
